HEARTFELT MUSIC AND MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT: Gospel music legend Albertina Walker delivers a soul-stirring performance of her classic tune I'm Still Here as the Rev. Dr. Barbara Lewis King, founder of Hillside Chapel and Truth Center, Inc. in Atlanta, holds her face in tears during a recent service.
King told her congregation, "You won't read about our great gospel singers in People magazine. You all have to read something Black like JET and EBONY." Below, King recently announced her engagement to her longtime friend, Dr. Sylvester Outley, founder and CEO of Self, Inc., which provides onsite drug and alcohol counseling and other social services to Philadelphia shelters. They plan to exchange marital vows in June at Hillside, the church King founded 34 years ago.
