> Roy Jones Jr., World Boxing Commission (WBC) light heavyweight champion, ho]ds his two championship belts after he defeated World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champion Lou Del Valle in a unification bout at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jones beat his former sparring partner in a unanimous decision despite Del Valle's knockdown of Jones in the eighth round of the 12-round fight.
