Magic Johnson Puts His Beverly Hills Home On Market For $7.9 Million
Jet, August 10, 1998
Talk show host and former L.A. Lakers superstar Earvin `Magic' Johnson and his wife Cookie recently put their home in the Beverly Hills area on the market for just under $8 million, according to reports.
The L.A. Times reported that Johnson plans to buy or build a home on more land in the area that overlooks Beverly Hills. The paper stated that the official asking price for the home is $7.932 million. The number 32 that's in the price is there because it was his number while he was with the Lakers.

Johnson, 39, has owned the home since 1989 when he bought it while it was being constructed. He listed it at roughly $6 million in 1992 when he and Cookie had one child, the paper stated. However, when his family grew to include three children, he expanded the Mediterranean style home from 12,000 to 14,000 square feet, increasing the number of bedrooms from four plus staff quarters to a total of nine. The home has a gym, media room, game room, tennis court and pool. It is in the gated community of Beverly Park.
Johnson, who owns a series of movie complexes and is involved in several other businesses, hosts his own syndicated late-night talk show.
