Jet, Feb 26, 2001
Former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe was recently arrested following a fight with his wife at their home on Long Island, NY, authorities said.
Nassau County police said Bowe, 33, was taken into custody after his wife called police, claiming she had been beaten. The officers arrived and found his wife injured from an apparent domestic dispute.
Bowe and his wife were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bowe allegedly dragged his spouse, leaving her with cuts on her knees and elbows, according to Sgt. John May. Bowe's wife was treated and released from the hospital.
The former boxer was released on bail after being charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
