* SCLC CONVENTION: Martin Luther King III, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which was founded by his late father, civil rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., addresses the organization's recent convention in Montgomery, AL. The theme of the five-day convention held at the Montgomery Civic Center, was "Montgomery To The Millennium: Building On Our Legacy To Effect Change." Keynote speakers and participants included Rev.
King's widow, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, Congressman Maxine Waters, Andrew Young, Dick Gregory, Kim Fields, Judge Greg Mathis, Rev. Bernice King and Dr. William Shaw, president of the Progressive National Baptist Convention.
