GUEST OF HONOR: Judge Arnette Hubbard is congratulated by Atty. Johnnie Cochran, Atty. Iris McCollum Green, chair of the Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Assn.(WLD) and Dallas Mayor Ronald Kirk at a reception in her honor sponsored by the WLD during the recent National Bar Assn. (NBA) 76th Annual Convention in Dallas.

Hubbard, a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, IL, was honored on the 20th anniversary of her induction as the first female president of the NBA. More than 1,500 attended this year's convention. Its theme was "From Social Engineer to Economic Engineer--The Next Frontier." More than 30 seminars were held during the week-long meeting. Speakers included Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-OH) and U.S. Deputy Atty. Gen. Larry Thompson. The NBA's highest honor, the C. Francis Stradford Award, was presented to veteran Atty. Fred Gray, who represented Rosa Parks during the Civil Rights Movement, and Florida state Rep. Arthenia Joyner. New NBA President Michael S. Rosier of Washington, D.C., was installed. The NBA is the nation's largest group of Black American lawyers and judges.
