Singer Mary J. Blige discusses love & life in Ebony's October issue

In a candid interview, Mary J. Blige, the queen of hip-hop soul, shares her true feelings about her past, her fans and her plans for the future in the October issue of EBONY.

The Grammy Award winner from Yonkers, NY, who burst onto the music scene in 1992 with lyrics about heartache and sadness is now singing a different, happier tune with the release of her latest CD love & life. "This album represents beautiful things," says Blige. "I'm very proud of love & life. Vocally, I'm proud of it. Lyrically, I'm proud of it. Concept-wise, I'm proud of it."

In a heartbeat Blige will tell you that she has changed since her debut CD What's the 411? The 32-year-old singer admits that she has grown spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally and is madly in love. In this issue she openly speaks about her engagement and pending marriage to fiance Kendu Isaacs. "I love this man," she says. "He's loving me like nobody's ever loved me before."

Blige also talks to EBONY about her relationship with superproducer Sean (P. Diddy) Combs, future career plans and something she is seriously considering--motherhood.
