Leaving Indianapolis: Indiana Pacers coach Isiah Thomas will not return as head coach for the 2003-04 season. This was the first major move since Celtics legend Larry Bird accepted the president of basketball operations position with the Pacers nearly two months earlier. Thomas, who has led the Pacers to the playoffs for the past three years, said he was looking forward to working with Bird.
"I was disappointed that Larry and I didn't get a chance to work together," Thomas said.
