Solange Knowles, sister of Beyonce, weds in the Bahamas

Solange Knowles, the 17-year-old sister of singer-actress Beyonce Knowles, recently tied the knot.

Solange, who is also a singer and actress, married Daniel Smith in a ceremony in the Bahamas. Beyonce, her parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, and Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland, who is like a sister to Beyonce and Solange, were in attendance.

"I am excited about this new phase in my life," Solange said. "I am very happy and feel truly blessed to have the unconditional love and support of my parents and my entire family."

Last year Solange, who was a backup dancer with Destiny's Child, released her debut CD, Solo Star. She performs the theme song for the TV animation "The Proud Family," a Disney channel TV show (JET, Sept. 24, 2001). Solange will make her film debut in the upcoming Johnson Family Vacation.

Smith is a college football player. They are both natives of Houston.
