Caption: JET MAGAZINE HONORED: Washington Post staff writer Theola Labbe, president of the Washington, D.C., Association of Black Journalists (WABJ), presents a proclamation to EBONY Magazine Senior Editor Kevin Chappell during the WABJ's recent "The Black Press: Then and Now" celebration held at BET headquarters in the city. Chappell accepted on behalf of JET Magazine, one of five publications honored during Black History Month by WABJ for "their value to the African-American community as informers of the people and for their contributions to the history of African-Americans." The Crisis Magazine, Final Call, the Washington Informer and the Washington Afro American also were honored.
