Caption: LUCKY LOTTERY WINNER: William Cousart, a retiree from the New York State Department of Corrections, displays his $16,374,030 lottery check after he was named the jackpot winner of $30 million by the New York Lottery. Cousart, 54, received the $30 million prize as a lump sum amount that totals $16,374,030 before required tax withholdings. The win is the largest ever won by a New York Lotto subscriber, someone who pays up front to have the same numbers played week after week. Cousart, who was $200,000 in debt and on his way to declare bankruptcy, says that the win came "just in the nick of time," reports the New York Daily News. The father of four and grandfather of one played the numbers 11, 18, 23, 25, 35, 53 and Bonus 9, which represent the birthdays and ages of his family members. After having worked in corrections for 25 years, the Staten Island resident plans to take a Hawaiian vacation. Cousart also plans to purchase a new car for each of his children with his new fortune.
