Caption: JAMES EARL JONES & LESLIE UGGAMS ON BROADWAY: Veteran actor James Earl Jones and famed actress-singer Leslie Uggams team up in the new drama On Golden Pond at Broadway's Cort Theatre in New York City. The play premiered last fall at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and won the pair rave reviews. Below, Uggams is shown in a scene with actress Linda Powell, daughter of the former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who plays the couple's daughter Chelsea. The family drama, which was a 1981 film starring Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn, explores growing up, growing old and growing closer. Jones portrays a retired professor and Uggams is his spirited wife who decide to spend one final summer at their family's cottage in Maine. The drama also stars Peter Francis James, Craig Bockhorn and Alexander Mitchell. Preview performances of On Golden Pond start March 22, with opening night set for April 7. In addition to her Broadway role, Uggams is getting rave reviews for her new CD On My Way To You.
