Kanye West raps about life & love in the April Ebony

Jet, March 21, 2005

Kanye West, music producer/rapper/songwriter/record exec, is exactly where he wants to be in life--at the top of his game. In the April issue of EBONY West speaks freely about his career accomplishments, future plans and what he's looking for in a mate.

The Chicago-bred artist, who's been criticized for being too cocky, told the world that his freshman CD, The College Dropout, would be considered a "classic." Now after having sold 2.6 million copies and recently winning three Grammy Awards, the music industry's highest honor, West says, "I really believed in myself ... And you know, I just want to apologize to everybody out there who says I'm arrogant. I apologize to everybody for believing in myself."

Learn about West's greatest fear, his upcoming projects and what the "musthaves" are for the lady in his life in "Kanye West: Hip-Hop's New Big Shot."

The April EBONY pays tribute to 92 of the 2005 "Black College Queens" who have achieved excellence in and out of the classroom. Still honoring our Sisters, EBONY takes a look back at former tiara-wearers who are currently taking on the world and making it their own in "Black College Queens Then & Now."

Are you a single Sister who can't figure out why your prince charming hasn't come along to sweep you off your feet? Read "5 Mistakes That May Be Keeping You From The Altar" to find how you can increase your chances at getting Mr. Right.

Smokie Norful, Tonex, Kierra Sheard and DeNetria Champ are just a few of the contemporary singers taking gospel music to new heights. In "Voices of Praise" meet the faces behind the angelic voices kicking up the praise level with a fresh beat and a new acceptance in the marketplace. Other must-reads in the April EBONY include "30 Leaders of the Future," "What's Behind All The Changes In Black Leadership?" and "10 Ways To Tell If He's The One."
