Jet, August 28, 2000

The Los Angeles home of the late NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain recently went on the market for $7.45 million.

The Hot Property section of the L.A. Times reported this is the first time the home, designed and built by Chamberlain in 1971, has been on the market. Chamberlain, the 7-foot-1 center who broke many pro basketball records with teams in Philadelphia and L.A., died last October.

The 7,200-square foot home is a wood and glass contemporary with soaring ceilings and city-to-ocean views and six bedrooms on 2.6 acres behind a gate. The master suite has 18-foot ceilings and a spa. The house also has a gym, guest rooms, a play room and two staff quarters. Some ceilings are more than 40 feet high, the Times stated.
