Busta Rhymes Signs With Clive Davis' J Records Label
Jet, March 5, 2001
Rapper Busta Rhymes recently left Elektra Records and has signed with J Records.
The multiple-album deal also includes the rapper's Flipmode Squad record label.
J Records is the recent upstart label from Clive Davis, the founder and former president of Arista Records. Rhymes said the opportunity to work with Davis helped sway him to J Records.
"What intrigued me most about going to J was that Clive believed in my vision as a whole," said Rhymes. "It wasn't about being in the Busta Rhymes business--for him it was about being in business with Busta Rhymes. What more could I ask for?"
Rhymes, who is also a sought-after actor, recently appeared in the hit movies, Shaft and Finding Forrester.
