Dr. L. Norville-Perez Sworn In As National Medical Assn. Prexy

Dr. Lucille C. Norville-Perez recently was installed as the 102nd president of the National Medical Association (NMA) at the organization's annual convention in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Perez, an active member of the NMA for nearly two decades, is the associate director of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in Rockville, MD. She also is director of the center's Office of Medical and Clinical Affairs.
In her address to convention delegates, Dr. Perez quoted alarming statistics related to the healthcare of Blacks, and urged fellow physicians not to allow the great needs of the community to paralyze them and encouraged the group to affect change wherever they can.
Dr. Perez has devoted her career to developing and implementing quality health services for those traditionally underserved by the medical community.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Perez received her medical degree from New York Medical College. She later completed a pediatric residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and an adolescent fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
She currently resides in the Washington, D.C., area with her two children.
