Caption: SUPPORTING SOUTH AFRICA'S DEMOCRACY: Former South African Presidents Nelson Mandela (1) and F.W. de Klerk (c) are united at an election fund-raising check handover ceremony in Johannesburg. Leading Black South African tycoon Tokyo Sexwale (r) handed a check to the African National Congress (ANC) and its opposition, the New National Party (NNP). Although Mandela and De Klerk are from opposing political parties, they chose to seek funding together for the democratic process. "When we go around asking for funding, people ask me why I associate myself with De Klerk. I always tell them that people change," said Mandela.
