A bevy of exciting new members may be headed for seats on Capitol Hill to become new members of the Congressional Black Caucus next January should they win in the upcoming elections with former Kansas City (MO) Mayor Emmanuel Cleaver leading the pack. Serving as that city's first Black mayor for two terms, Cleaver decided to try to lengthen his political career with a stint in the U.S.
House of Representatives. Other unpublicized but highly touted newcomers well could be former Texas Justice of the Peace AI Green, who reportedly has spent more than $300,000 of his own money to win the Houston Democratic primary, and a former member of Congress, Georgia Rep. Cynthia McKinney, who sparked a comeback from a loss to Rep. Denise Majette, who this year moved on to become the party nominee for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
