Sullivan Award

University of Tennessee Lady Vols forward Chamique Holdsclaw (r), recipient of the 1998 Sullivan Award, poses with past award winner, track and field legend Jackie Joyner-Kersee, in Knoxville, TN. The Sullivan Award is given annually to the nation's top amateur athlete. Holdsclaw is the first women's basketball player to receive the honor.

(Below) The all-American senior is congratulated by her grandmother, June Holdsclaw (l), and her mother, Bonita Holdsclaw, during a pre-game ceremony to honor graduating seniors. In her last home game at Thompson-Boling Arena where the Lady Vols battled Vanderbilt, Holdsclaw scored 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead her top-ranked team to victory. During her career at Tennessee, Holdsclaw has a 125-15 win/loss record and three straight NCAA titles.
