In his final championship race as one of track and field's greatest athletes, Johnson (below) anchored the U.S.

1,600-meter relay team to the gold medal at the Goodwill Games at the ANZ Stadium. His newest medal joins his five Olympic gold medals and nine World Championship gold medals. Johnson, who began his international career at the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle, told reporters, "I will miss the sport because it's been such a big part of my life. I am a little sad that this year is going to end because I have had a great time. But I'm looking forward to retirement."
