Starting almost 30 years ago as a cataloger, Beacher J. E. Wiggins has worked up to the rank of acting associate librarian for Library Services at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. He is the first Black to hold the post.
The director for cataloging since June 1997, Wiggins will replace Winston Tabb who was named to head the libraries of Johns Hopkins University.
