Caption: Candice Sanders is crowned Miss California USA during ceremonies at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in downtown Fresno. Formerly Miss Greater Los Angeles USA, Sanders is a junior and alumni scholar at Pepperdine University in Malibu and is in the process of obtaining her double major in religion and creative writing. She is a professional model and teaches a creative writing class for children in South Central, Los Angeles. As Miss California USA, Sanders will represent the state in the Miss USA pageant whose winner will compete in the Miss Universe pageant. She is the second Pepperdine student to become Miss California USA. In 1992, Shannon Marketic, won the title and later became Miss USA.
