FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD: Six-time national boxing champion LaTonya King (1) recently added to her collection of belts when she won the Ringside World Championships Girl's 114-pound (flyweight) title during the international competition in Kansas City, MO. King, a spunky 15-year-old student with perfect grades, trains under Javan Hill (r) at Detroit's famed Kronk Gym.
The 5-foot-3 boxer won her first world title by decision over Vikki Pelletier of Quebec, Canada, in the finals. She's ecstatic that she's No. 1 in the world and looks to keep her tournament record spotless. Her boxing titles include Golden Gloves and state championships in her weight division (JET, Oct. 20, 2003).
