Michael Vick's mounting legal troubles have caused the suspended Falcons quarterback to be under house arrest as he awaits his December 10 sentencing for federal dogfighting charges.

A urine sample submitted by Vick on September 13 has tested positive for marijuana, and as a result, his court probation officer asked Judge Henry Hudson to place special conditions on Vick's release.

The restrictions include Vick refraining from use or unlawful possession of a narcotic drug or other controlled substances. Also, Vick is restricted to his residence every day from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. or as directed by the pretrial services officer. The home confinement will include electronic monitoring.

The new ruling means Vick must submit to random drug testing. They could include urine testing, wearing a sweat patch and/or a remote alcohol testing system.

Vick, who is already facing up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to bankrolling a dogfighting operation in Virginia (JET, Sept. 10), also faces two felony state charges related to dogfighting that could get him more prison time if he's convicted. A Virginia grand jury recently indicted him on the state charges.

The NFL star has been indefinitely suspended without pay by the NFL and been dropped by all his major sponsors, including Nike and Reebok.
