Aretha Franklin's `Respect', Scott Joplin's `The Entertainer' Among Top 10 Songs Of The Century

R-E-S-P-E-C-T went to Aretha Franklin when the National Endowment for the Arts and the Recording Industry Association of America placed her soul classic Respect at No. 4 on The 365 Songs of the Century list.
Scott Joplin's ragtime hit The Entertainer was No. 10 on the list. The ranking, conducted by teachers, journalists, students and public officials, is part of a plan to promote music education in schools.
Other songs by Blacks in the top 20 are Louis Armstrong's When the Saints Go Marching In, Duke Ellington Orchestra's Take the `A' Train, and Fats Domino's Blueberry Hill.
