Died: Charles Jackson, 55, editor-at-large of The Oakland Tribune who trained legions of minority journalists at the Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education and who championed diversity in journalism in every newsroom he worked in, after a lengthy illness in a hospice in San Francisco.
