Funnyman Jamie Foxx is taking a break from comedy to show fans and critics that he's good for more than just a belly of laughs. In the November EBONY Foxx talks about what is was like working with and portraying the late musician Ray Charles on the big screen.

Ever since he made his comedic acting debut on the early '90s TV sketch comedy show "In Living Color" Jamie Foxx, 36, hasn't looked back. The multitalented comedian, singer, pianist and actor proves that he has superstar quality with his dramatic portrayal of Ray Charles in the film biography Ray, scheduled for release later this month.

His performance is so believable that critics are already calling him a contender for the coveted Academy Award.

"I think this year is what we call 'beyond my wildest dream' because I never dreamed anything quite like this," says Foxx of his success.

Learn more about the making of the movie, Foxx's personal life, and how it feels to be Hollywood's latest "it" guy in "Jamie Foxx: The Thrills and Tears of The Ray Charles Story."

It's "been so long" since we last heard from 8-time Grammy winner Anita Baker. Now after a 10-year hiatus she's back to tell EBONY her reasons for leaving the spotlight and coming back in "The Mystery & Majesty of Anita Baker: Why She Stopped Singing and Why She's Returning."

This November 2 marks a very important day for African-Americans. Why? Because it's the day we vote for the country's next president.

In an exclusive interview with President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry, EBONY questioned the candidates on issues crucial to African-Americans. Before you go to the polls, EBONY urges you to read "President Bush and Senator Kerry Tell What They'll Do For You."
