Ladder 49

Jet, Oct 18, 2004 by Sylvia P. Flanagan

Rated PG-13 Touchstone Pictures

Peering into the private world of a typical urban firehouse, the camaraderie and loyalty between firemen working on the job together is legendary-crossing all barriers of age, race and background-and comes to the fore in this movie as Jack Morrison, a devoted firefighter befriends a group of men who will, once the bell rings, be responsible for one another's lives. In Jack Morrison's zeal to help rescue a trapped civilian, he has been swallowed deep inside a warehouse now transformed into a furnace of flames, black smoke and collapsing debris. Jack fights for survival while outside his mentor and fire chief Mike Kennedy battles to get him out alive. Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, John Travolta, Morris Chestnut, Jacinda Barrett, Robert Patrick, Balthazar Getty, Kevin Daniels, Jay Hernandez, Billy Burke, Tim Guinee and Kevin Chapman.
