Quincy Jones among recipients of the 2008 jazz masters

With more than 25 Grammy awards and an abundance of talent, Quincy Jones has reached another accomplishment.

The renowned musician, conductor, producer is among the six winners of the National Endowment for the Arts Masters awards.

The award, which is the nation's highest jazz accolade, is in its 26th year and has honored 100 jazz icons.

Other winners include: the late renowned pianist Andrew Hill; composer--arranger Tom McIntosh; trumpeter Joe Wilder and rhythm instrumentalist Candido Camero.

Additionally, composer Gunther Schuller, who has written more than 160 musical compositions, won the A.B. Spellman NEA Jazz Master Award for jazz advocacy. The award is given to non-musicians.

Each will receive a $25,000 fellowship. An awards ceremony and concert event is scheduled for January 2008.
