Sylvester E. Jones, former chief deputy marshal in the Atlanta district office of the United States Marshals Service (USMS), has been named assistant director for the USMS Judicial Security Division based in Arlington, VA. In the post, Jones is responsible for the direction and oversight for security of nearly 2,000 federal judges nationwide.

He is the first Black in the 212-year-old agency's history to rise from the rank of deputy to a senior executive position.
