HEATH IS NEW RAZORBACK COACH Stan Heath (l) points to the "Go Hogs" logo on the back of a T-shirt presented to him by University of Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles after Heath was announced as the new men's basketball coach during a news conference in Fayetteville, AR. Heath replaces the only coach to lead the Razorbacks to an NCAA basketball title, Nolan Richardson.
Heath caught the attention of Broyles and his staff after a successful season of head-coaching with Kent State. The Golden Flashes advanced to the final eight of this year's NCAA Tournament, finishing the season 30-6. Heath, 37, said he was honored to replace Richardson, calling him a pioneer for Black basketball coaches.
