McKay was previously head coach for Oregon State where he posted a 22-37 record. At 36, McKay was the youngest head coach in the Pac-10 Conference. In his six years as a head coach, including two years each at Colorado State and Portland State, McKay has a career record of 83-89. A graduate of Seattle Pacific University in 1987, as a player there he left as the single-season and career recordholder for steals.
