Avant takes fans to highest peak of satisfaction with new album `Ecstasy'

Jet, April 22, 2002

On Avant's sophomore album, Ecstasy, he makes a gallant effort to send listeners over the top with his seductive lyrics and warm vocals. Makin' Good Love, the album's first single, isn't having problems making that happen.

"I want the fellas to pick up this album while they are in the house with their girl," Avant tells JET. "I want to get them into that sexual mood and this album will help the fellas do that."

Since Avant first hit the music scene two years ago with the song Separated from the debut album My Thoughts, he has continued to hoop with the big boys of soul crooning. As the first artist to be signed to NBA legend Magic Johnson's self-titled music label with MCA Records, the Cleveland, OH, native followed up Separated with the remake of My First Love, a duet with newcomer Keke Wyatt.

Just before Ecstasy dropped, fans heard a second duet with Wyatt on the song Nothing in This World.

Explains the 25-year-old musician, "I want my music to make you relax and feel laid back."

And that's what Ecstasy aims to do.
