PAUL ROBESON STAMP: A commemorative stamp honoring the late legendary entertainer-activist Paul Robeson was recently unveiled by the U.S. Postal Service and Columbia University's Center for Contemporary Black History in New York City. Robeson is the 2004 honoree in the Postal Service's Black Heritage stamp series.

Throughout the 1930s and '40s, Robeson was one of the most popular and well-respected Black public figures in the world. He is remembered not only for his extraordinary talents as an actor, singer and Rutgers University All-American football star, but also for his tireless commitment to civil rights and social justice. The stamp will be issued in January 2004.
