Rice actually was the one who phoned Bush of the terrorist attack. Even though others have more experience in foreign relations and a longer record of personal association, Rice is described by the newspaper as having the president's "ear and confidence," and being one of the few insiders not from his Texas clique ...

Seeing the smoke rise from the Pentagon after hearing a low-flying plane, Arlington, VA, fire woman Andrea Kaiser drove her fire truck directly to the building and was one of the first on the scene.
