Linda Johnson Rice named CEO of Johnson Publishing Company

Linda Johnson Rice has been named president and chief executive officer of Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., the No. 1 Black-owned publishing company in the world, publishers of EBONY and JET Magazines, and owners of Fashion Fair Cosmetics.
The new appointment was announced by Founder, Chairman and Publisher John H. Johnson. Mrs. Rice was formerly president and chief operating officer of the company. In her new position, Mrs. Rice will continue to implement innovative systems and approaches into all areas of the corporation's interests while drawing from the successful business strategies established by her father, Mr. Johnson.
Mrs. Rice is on the board of directors of several major corporations, including Bausch & Lomb, Inc., the Magazine Publishers Association, VIAD Corp., and Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Mrs. Rice holds a masters of management degree from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg School of Management. She also has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California.
Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., established in 1942, is celebrating its 60th year as the No. 1 Black-owned publishing company in the world. EBONY, a general interest magazine founded in 1945 with a readership of over 12 million monthly, and JET, a newsmagazine founded in 1951 with a weekly readership of over 9 million, are the most successful African-American magazines in their fields. Fashion Fair Cosmetics is No. 1 in skin care and makeup for women of color around the world. Johnson Publishing Company also produces EBONY Fashion Fair, which has donated over $48 million to charitable causes since it was founded in 1958, and is produced by Eunice W. Johnson, who is also secretary-treasurer of the corporation. Johnson Publishing also owns Supreme Beauty Products and the Johnson Publishing Company Book Division.
