Honorary doctorate from South Africa

HONORARY DOCTORATE FROM SOUTH AFRICA: William H. Gray, (1) president and CEO of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), receives an honorary doctorate from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa, presented by Professor Dirk Meerkotter, dean of the faculty of education at the University of the Western Cape.

Gray was saluted for his efforts to end apartheid in South Africa years ago as a congressman. He also recently played a major role in building academic institutions in in South Africa. "We pay homage to a multi-talented human being, a visionary leader, a true friend to our institution and our nation," said a university spokesperson.
