Fundraiser for diabetes

Berry who was diagnosed with diabetes at 21, received the Brass Ring Award from Winfrey during the star-studded gala. The event was expected to raise $6 million. Since its founding in 1977 by the Davises, Carousel of Hope has raised more than $60 million on behalf of the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Ms. Davis' husband, the late billionaire businessman Marvin Davis, died in September of complication from diabetes, and her daughter, Dana, is battling the disease.
