PERFORMING WITH PURPOSE: Gospel singer Kirk Franklin sports a Virginia Tech sweatshirt and cap during a performance at the Gospel Music Association's Dove Awards in Nashville, TN, in remembrance of the university's shooting victims (Jet, May 7), During the event, which was co-hosted by Donnie McClurkin, Franklin won a Dove award in the category of Urban Recorded Song of the Year for Imagine Me.
Other Black Dove Award winners include Andrae Crouch, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Kiki Sheard, and Israel & New Breed.
