Thumbs up!

THUMBS UP!: Roger Ebert gives his signature thumbs-up during his recent Overlooked Film Festival in Champaign, IL, as he and his wife, Chaz, accept the Thumbs Up Award at the Virginia Theater. Ebert, who had cancer-related surgery last summer, is unable to speak due to a tracheostomy. His wife spoke on his behalf as the renowned film critic smiled.

Ebert, known for the popular "Ebert & Roeper" show, (formerly "Siskel & Ebert") is viewed as dean of American film critics. However, he has not appeared on the show, and has only written a few reviews since his illness. Ebert has been a film critic at the Chicago Sun-Times since 1967. In 1975, he won the illustrious Pulitzer Prize for criticism, and also partnered with the late Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune to co-host their show.
