Chamique Holdsclaw, star player for the University of Tennessee Lady Vols, poses with her trophy after she was named the Associated Press Player of the Year in San Jose, CA. Holdsclaw, who recently played her final collegiate game, is the first to repeat as Player of the Year. She is also the first three-time All-American.

In addition, Carolyn Peck, women's head basketball coach at Purdue University, accepts her trophy after she was named Associated Press Coach of the Year. She's the talented spark who ignites the No. 1-ranked Boilermakers, who at the time of the presentation were 32-1 and in contention for the national championship. Peck, also the Big 10 Conference Coach of the Year, is slated to leave Purdue, after only her second season, following the NCAA tournament and assume her new duties as head coach/general manager of the WNBA's Orlando Miracle.
