Tunes performed by Dionne Warwick, Sam Cooke, Lena Horne and Jimi Hendrix are among the classic songs recently added to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Science's Hall of Fame.
The academy added 31 songs and 18 albums to its Hall of Fame.
Among the songs included are Don't Make Me Over by Dionne Warwick; A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke; I Loves You, Porgy, Nina Simone; Lush Life, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman; Purple Haze, Jimi Hendrix; What'd I Say, Ray Charles; Stormy Weather, Lena Horne; Unforgettable, Nat King Cole; Rolling Stone, Muddy Waters; and Amazing Grace, The Dixie Hummingbirds.
The Hall of Fame honors early recordings of lasting, qualitative or historical significance which were released more than 25 years ago. Winners are selected annually by a special member committee of 100 eminent and knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts.
The Academy of Recording Arts and Science also presents the annual Grammy Awards.
