Benjamin Hooks And Wife, Frances, Celebrate 50 Years Of Marriage With Renewal Of Vows

The Rev. Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks and his wife, Frances Louise, recently observed five decades of marriage with a reaffirmation ceremony at the Greater Middle Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.
The Rev. R. J. Page of Detroit and the Rev. Harold Middlebrook of Memphis officiated the renewing-of-vows ceremony.
The wedding party consisted of a host of family members. Raymond Hooks, brother of Rev. Hooks, served as the best man, while Anita Dancy Wallace, Mrs. Hooks' sister, served as the matron of honor.
A reception followed at Greater Middle Baptist, where Hooks pastors. Tributes were paid the couple by Congressman Harold Ford, Jr., Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton and Shelby County Mayor Jim Rout.
Rev. Hooks was the executive director of the Nation al Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) from 1977 to 1993.
