Caption: LANGSTON HUGHES STAMP: Chicago postmaster Earl D. Flowers (r) unveils the U.S. Postal Service's 2002 Black Heritage commemorative postage stamp that honors the late poet-author Langston Hughes during Chicago State University's recent 4th Annual International Literary Hall of Fame for Writers of African Descent Induction Ceremony. The stamp is the 25th in the Black Heritage series and will be available for purchase in February 2002, marking Hughes' 100th birthday. Postmaster Flowers is assisted in the unveiling by Haki R. Madhubuti, professor of English and founder/director emeritus of the Gwendolyn Brooks Center at the university. Other notable Americans in the Black Heritage series include last year's honoree, Roy Wilkins, Malcolm X (1991), Bessie Coleman (1995) and Martin Luther King Jr. (1979).
