* SINGLETON SETS RECORD: Film director John Singleton is shown on the set of 2 Fast 2 Furious, which pulled in $50.5 million at the box office in its first weekend, landing at the No. 1 spot. It was the biggest opening ever for a Black director. Keenen Ivory Wayans' Scary Movie held the previous record, earning $42.3 million in its first weekend in July 2000.
The action-packed 2 Fast 2 Furious stars Tyrese and Paul Walker.
