Smiley, Dyson, West on 'Pass The Mic!' tour
Jet, Jan 5, 2004
Tavis Smiley, Michael Eric Dyson and Cornel West recently hit the U.S. in a six-city tour called "Pass The Mic!"
The trio of outspoken Black thinkers brought a special, two-hour program of information and inspiration to thousands in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit.
"Pass The Mic!" brought the three outspoken men together on stage for an evening of thought-provoking, interactive talks and discussion with the audience.
Smiley, Dyson and West took turns at the microphone before they passed it around in the audience to give people a chance to speak out.
BlackAmericaWeb.com played online host for the historic tour, with exclusive coverage of select events.
Smiley also reported from each tour city on his weekday radio program, "The Tavis Smiley Show from NPR."
"Pass The Mic!" was also a celebration of Smiley's third year on NPR. He will soon kick off his new half-hour PBS-TV program, "Tavis Smiley," which debuts Jan. 5.
