Jet, June 7, 1999

Orlando Magic guard Darrell Armstrong, nearly a week after he received the NBA's Sixth Man Award (JET, May 31), won the league's Most Improved Player honor.

Armstrong is the first player in NBA history to win both awards.

He received 54 of a possible 118 votes from a national panel of sports media. Eric Snow of the Philadelphia 76ers placed second with 15 votes.

The North Carolina native, who formerly played in Europe and the Mediterranean, got his break in the NBA with the Magic in 1995.
