Bonds set to buy $8 million Beverly Hills home

Brokers in Beverly Hills, CA, said San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds agreed to pay about $8 million for a home in a gated community there, the Private Properties section of the Wall Street Journal recently reported.

The deal, that is in escrow, but has yet to close, includes 2 acres with a two story villa that has seven bedrooms, nine baths, three fireplaces, a wet bar, a four-car garage, a pool and a spa. The home was on the market for just less than $10 million.

Bonds, 38, who last year set the single-season home run record (73), is in his 17th major league season that netted him a National League Pennant. He and his family will be in good company with their new neighbors, including Academy-Award winning actor Denzel Washington and comedian/actors Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy.
