THE HISTORYMAKERS: Blues legend B.B. King is congratulated by soul legend Isaac Hayes and actress Lynn Whitfield at the recent HistoryMakers "An Evening With B.B. King" tribute at the Art Institute of Chicago. Hayes interviewed King about his career during the salute which will air in February on PBS-TV.
Whitfield served as an honorary chair of the annual event. King's career spans more than 50 years and he continues to perform. Founded by Julieanna Richardson, the HistoryMakers is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Black history. Its goal is to archive 5,000 interviews with Black Americans who have made significant contributions to the nation's history.
