Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, an emergency medicine physician at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, has been appointed the first surgeon general of the state of Michigan by Gov. Jennifer Granholm. Wisdom, who also is an assistant professor of medical education at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, will lead Michigan's public health promotion and disease prevention efforts.
